Dental Bridges

Is your smile missing one tooth or several teeth?  Do you have gaps in your smile that need to be repaired?  Henrik E. Hansen DDS, Inc, in Fairfield, California, can help!  You smile can be made whole again with a dental bridge.

A bridge can replace missing teeth by attaching replacement teeth onto a dental appliance that is made of pink or gum-colored plastic and attached between two abutment teeth on each side of the gap.  This type of bridge is not removable and requires no special cleaning beyond normal brushing and flossing.

A traditional bridge is the most popular type.  The bridge is created by cementing crowns to two abutting teeth and then bonding the bridge to the back of the crowns.

A Maryland bridge is used for a more conservative approach, creating less expense.  The bridge frame is made of metal or porcelain and is bonded directly to the back of the two teeth on each side of the gap rather than placing crowns on those teeth.

A Cantilever bridge can be placed with only one natural tooth beside the bridge.  A crown is placed on the natural tooth for bonding and stability.

An implant-supported bridge would be the strongest restoration option.  Two implants with crowns are placed on each side of the gap.  The bridge is bonded to the crowns and suspended between them.  This bridge is the most stable one available but also takes longer to complete.
