Veneers

Correcting gaps between teeth, chipped teeth, misshaped teeth, or stained teeth can possibly be corrected with one painless visit to Dr. Hansen’s office in Fairfield, California, with the use of veneers.

Veneers are made of thin tooth-colored material that is bonded onto the front of a tooth.  Each one is custom-made to correct the color, shape, size, or length of the teeth.

The choice of veneer depends on a few factors, including the position of placement in the mouth, the expected results, and the patient’s budget.

Two veneer types are available – porcelain and composite resin.

Porcelain veneers are custom-made to the tooth and color of the surrounding teeth and are less prone to staining.  Porcelain lasts a long time and is a very strong substance.

Composite resin is a special type of dental plastic used for many different applications.  Composite resin is also easily matched to the color of the surrounding teeth.  Although porcelain veneers are stronger, composite resin is less expensive and easy to fix if damaged.

A big advantage of composite resin is an easier application process.  It requires less removal of tooth enamel before application and usually takes fewer appointments to complete (usually just one).
